Statzpack Gives You Those Extra Inches – Pacino
Talking Balls No Comments »DOWN BASED company Statzpack are promising to bring GAA coaches kicking and screaming into the twenty first century.
No more scribbling a few notes on the side of an empty twenty Major packet before launching into a half time diatribe and hauling off the two corner forwards for missing a couple of difficult ones just before the whistle went. All that despite scoring 2-7 between them in the previous twenty seven minutes.
Nowadays these things don’t happen no more so we’re told. Not with Statzpack. StatzPack reckon that nowadays teams are equal in terms of fitness and skill, therefore managers are constanty trying out new measures in order to give their team that extra edge over their opponent. As Pacino says, “the Inches you need are everywhere around you.”
The use of Statistics allows coaches to analyse how a team is performing against a given opposition. These stats presently can be recorded with a pen and paper at pitch side. However problems start occuring when it becomes dark, starts to rain or when they do have them recorded where to store the information, so that you get the best out of it?
That is where Statzpack comes in. Statzpack newly formed family owned business, based along the shore edge of the Mourne Mountains. They have developed a new Player/Manager system with a focus on Statistcs. This system allows stats to be recorded for individual players, teams, grades across a number of campaigns, across the year.
Basically, clubs or teams sign up to the Statzpack service, and are given their own section of the website where their data is securely stored. Just like conventional stats packages, the data can also be inputted manually, transferring from paper the data collected during the game. Every piece of action gets ‘time stamped’ so the coach can see where and when everything happens in a game. You can also see half-time and full-time stats on screen, as well as being able to call up the stats from previous games. The service comes in two parts – a comprehensive website where all your stats are stored and analysed, and an Apple iTunes application – which is used to capture the data as games are played.
What makes Statzgaelic different is the iPhone application which can be downloaded from iTunes. This effectively turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a hand-held device for gathering statistics, so the coach can stand pitchside and input the data – which is then all uploaded automatically to your website.
