Susan Boyle to Sing at Ballybofey for Championship Game?
Talking Balls Comments
Boyle, a surprise success story on the hit TV series, (dubbed by some cynics ‘Britain’s Got No Talent) has proved a transatlantic sensation with scheduled appearance on Oprah and the Jay Leno show thanks to YouTube coverage of her success.
It is understood Boyle has been contacted through Donegal connections and asked would she be prepared to sing from pitchside, normally the preserve of wee girls that have done well in Scór. Sources confirmed that in addition to Amhran na bhFiann she would sing her trademark I Dreamed a Dream, which has been adopted by the Donegal senior football panel as their team song.
Both Ms Boyle’s deceased parents were originally from Donegal and it is felt that it would be somewhat of a coup for the match in Ballybofey if the singing sensation were to make an emotional return to the soil of her forebears to perform at the Ulster Championship match. Certainly Donegal football could do with a boost after a poor enough league campaign.
It is thought that one of the possible sticking points is a request from Boyle’s team that she would be able to perform in Jackson’s of Ballybofey the Sunday night after the game for local fans. Jacksons have an existing commitment in the diary for a performance by Mickey Harte which could be difficult enough to shift.
It is not known whether Simon Cowell has ever previously attended an Ulster Championship match.
